The weather is finally starting to come around here in Washington, D.C., and living in the mid-Atlantic, there are so many beautiful places just waiting to be discovered a few hours away from the hustle and bustle of the nation’s capital. As we start to hit the warm 70s and 80s, it’s time to grab your weekender travel bag and start thinking about what to wear on your weekend getaway to the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay.
Style client / friend Angelica Talan of Angelica in the City and Clarendon Moms and I decided to pack up the families and head to the Chesapeake Bay area for a quick weekend getaway. Angelica had recommended we stay at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay because of it’s amazing location and awesome family friendly vibe. As working mothers and wives, we rarely get a chance to unplug, get the kids together and relax with our spouses all at the same time. Thankfully, the Hyatt Regency allowed for that to happen. Our children got to enjoy the indoor swimming pool, run the grounds and play at the in house arcade. I will say the dads enjoyed the arcade as well. (Probably a little too much)
With dinner time fast approaching, Angelica and I decided to take advantage of the onsite day care service and put the kids in for a few hours, while we (the parents) have a nice adult dinner. Imagine that, an uninterrupted, no: “Sit down, eat your food, do you have to go potty?” dinner with fellow adults, talking about adult things like the latest true crime drama on TV. BLISS!
Before we left DC, Angelica asked that I style her looks for our weekend getaway. On a weekend getaway you want to feel relaxed and light, so I styled two looks from Eloquii that I think are perfect for a weekend trip.
This leaf print wrap maxi dress, straw bag and layered chain necklace is the perfect mix of a relaxed but refined day look.
For our adults only dinner, I styled her in a fit and flare dress that complimented her hour glass figure and gave a little bit of a dressed up feeling. I paired the dress with a light trench coat to keep her warm while the evening breeze coming off the bay came through.
It was so nice to be “mommy guilt” free as we ate our dinner, enjoyed each other’s company and knew that our children were in a safe space with endless entertainment. When we picked up the kids at the end of the evening, they were ready for bed…and so were the parents. I will say that even if it’s a quick 24 hour getaway, having the chance to unplug does wonders for the entire family.
Angelica told me she felt amazing in her styled looks and never felt like anything was a hassle to pack for the trip. She was happy to say that she now knows what to wear on her next weekend getaway to the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay.
I have to thank Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay for their hospitality and amazing service. My family and I had a wonderful time and I know Angelica and her family did as well!
